Traditional Lampshade Making Workshop
During this one day course you will learn all the skills you need to make your own bowed empire traditional soft lampshade. Traditional lampshades are made in a very different way to drum lampshades, and involve stretching fabric over a frame and then hand sewing in place. There is no hard lampshade backing used, just fabric, which is why they are called fabric soft lampshades.
This workshop is run by Jo from Lume Lighting, who has been making lampshades for 9 years now

- We will have a 45 minute break for lunch, therefore please bring some lunch along, or there are cafes at Fiveways which is a 10 minute walk away
Fabric Recommendations
Recommended fabric is a light to medium weight cotton, cotton/linen mix or mix.
Please note your fabric will be used on the bias (45 degree angle) Therefore if it’s a pattern, please be aware that it will be on an angle. So a non directional print is best.
Thicker fabrics are not ideal, so please do not bring velvets, upholstery fabrics or very think cottons.
