Design, print and make your own lampshade workshop
During this all day workshop you will design, print and make your own lino printed drum lampshade. This is the perfect workshop if you would like to have a completely bespoke lampshade, using your very own pattern & design printed onto it.
You will be taught by Jo from Lume Lighting, who was trained in printed textile design and has been making lampshades for 9 years.
During this workshop you will
- Draw out your own design to be transferred into lino. There will be inspirational books, magazines, etc to work from. However please bring anything that you would like to work from. You don’t have to be a great drawer to do this workshop! You can create stunning repeat patterns by just using simple shapes
- Learn how to carve your design into your lino block
- Create a repeat pattern on your fabric using your lino block
- Using your printed fabric, learn how to make a 20cm D drum lampshade

- Tracing paper to create your designs on
- Plain cotton to print onto
- Use of equipment, scissors, lino cutting tools, pencils, fabric printing ink
- Materials to make your own 20cm D x 20cm H lampshade

To bring
Inspirational books and objects will be provided in this workshop, however if you already have a design in mind. Please print this out and bring it with you. Or feel free to bring your own inspirations, from images or objects
Please note the largest size you can make your design is 10cm x 15cm, then we will be repeating it
We will be having a 45 minute break, so please bring your own lunch with you, or there are cafes in Fiveways which is a 10 minute walk away
